Buttock reshaping
Buttock reshaping is a cosmetic surgery operation to enhance the volume and shape of the buttock, using either implants or fat grafting to achieve a more shapely, aesthetically pleasing body contour.
Flat buttocks are usually genetic but illness, weight loss or natural aging may also result in a less shapely buttock. Many people, both women and men, are unsetisfied with their flat buttock shape and they are unable to improve the tone and size of it despite rigorous exercises. A buttock reshaping surgery helps them to achieve a natural and aesthetically proportionate figure with implants or fat grafting.
The surgery
There are more buttock reshaping techniques. It can be perforemed non-surgically with injectable producs, it can involve fat grafting, or a buttock implant may be used.
During a fat grafting procedure the surgeon uses liposuction to remove excess fat from other parts of the body and then, after being purified, it is reinjected in the butt cheeks. This type of surgery is not appropriate for people with little body fat.
Buttock implantation is usually performed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon makes an approximately 3-inch incision between the midline of the buttock, and makes a pocket for the implant. The silicone implant is positioned between the muscle and the fat. Finally, the incision is sutured. Buttock implants come in different sizes and shapes just like breast implants.

After surgery
After the surgery patients are usually required to wear a compression garment. Patients feel some pain and discomfort which can be relieved with pain medication, and they are not able to lie on their backs for about two weeks. Some bruising and swelling also occur. Patients are usually able to return to their normal life within two weeks after surgery
Complications and risks
Every surgery presents some complications and risks. The most common complications include: bruising, swelling, bleeding, blood clotting, infection, scarring and negative reaction to anaesthesia.
In case of a fat grafting procedure a major concern is that the body later reabsorbs the fat. If one side absorbs more fat than the other, the buttocks may become asymmetrical. Buttock implants may also shift and make the buttocks to look asymmetrical.
